We spent 8 hours in Cook Inlet waters today fishing for
halibut out of
Ninilchik with Captain Rick Roe, a 25 year experienced fishing guide here on the peninsula. Even though it was the slowest day for fishing he has seen this summer, we still had lots of fun and we each caught our limit of what is known as "chicken" halibut which are small, (all of them about 25-35 pounds), but the best kind for eating. Barry had a great time out there when he reeled in a "big" one. Nobody got seasick and the foggy morning cleared up paving the way for bright sunshine! We wished we could've had some for dinner tonight but we got in so late that Barry decided to take us out to dinner. That was certainly much appreciated by the tired fishermen! The blog author will write more tomorrow and post more pictures when she is not so tired! We still have to vacuum-pack the fillets and get them in the freezer before we turn in so... check back soon!
