July 27 Horseback Riding!

After our hike, we came home and had a quick supper. While Kami went off to her last soccer game she would attend this season, the 4 of us went about a mile down the Sterling highway to ride horses. Meet our neighbor, Paul Stevenson (1st pic). His wife was working and their daughter Kendra, a friend of Kami's and a student of Suzanne's about 6 years ago was at camp but Paul wanted us to bring Barry over to enjoy the horses that they often ride in the local rodeo. They have 3 horses, Kenaiya (2nd photo) an apolosa, Lena, (Suzanne is riding her), an arabian and last but not least, Goliath, a percheron, who definitley lives up to his name! Barry enjoyed brushing him (2nd row 3rd pic) and talking to him (1st row 3rd pic) while Paul cleaned his hooves. Finally it was time to ride. Note how Barry had to use a step ladder (2nd row last pic) to mount him. He had never been on such a big horse and was a bit worried at first about falling off but he did quite well (last row 1st pic) on the trail ride. Kimberly rode quite a bit when she was in high school so she had a great time on both Lena and then Goliath. She absolutely loves horses and hopes to have one when she goes to MA for college in January. Barry had an absolutely fantastic time! And once again, no rain! Hooray!
