It's the last full day of Barry's Alaskan Adventure and it was a great one, indeed! Finally, the weather was good enough, (just a little mist and no wind), for the crew to put the boat Pic 2), on the lower Kenai River for some dipnetting. Dan, Barry, Kimber (pic 1 making tea for the trip), & Kami piled into the little boat with our avid fisherman friend, Ed (Pic 3). Suzanne decided to leave a little room in the boat for the fish and stayed home to work on getting all of the over 3,000 pictures loaded on jump drives for Barry to take home! They spent about 2 hours on the river and netted 9 salmon (2nd row pics 1&2). The limit is 25 per household member so it wasn't a big catch but the fish were really a nice size, around 10 pounds (row 2 pic 3). Even though Barry could not dipnet, (Alaskan residents only), he had a great time taking pictures and watching the fish come into the net. After cleaning out the boat, (last pic), Dan used his homemade Alaskan ulu to fillet the fish and get it in the freezer in a hurry so that it will be nice and frozen for the long plane ride tomorrow! We hope Barry's relatives in MA will enjoy many future fish feasts with all that delicious fish coming there way!Tonight the guys brought home yummy ribs from Moose River BBQ just up the Sterling Highway a few miles. What a great last Alaskan supper for Barry! We headed into town to get a fish box and some other last minute things we needed to get everybody on their way tomorrow. It's gonna be a busy morning for sure!
