July 3

It was a dreary, rainy day here in Sterling but we still had a very productive and fun day. After another brisk early morning 2 mile walk with Suzanne, Barry spent some time on the PC emailing his parents. If you look close enough when you click on the picture, you can see the picture of his dad on the screen. He enjoyed grinding oat groats into steel-cut oats. a family breakfast favorite. Dan and Barry spent quite a bit of the day cleaning up the large pile of sawdus that accumulated in the shop after planing all the boards for the new bedroom upstairs. We found out a couple of days ago that a friend from our church congregation lost her husband to cancer so we all pitched in and cooked supper for her tonight. Barry is really great with that potato peeler! After supper, Dan went outside to finish the upholstery on some of the boat seats while the rest of us played a rousing game of mexican train dominoes, the Martin Family's favorite! We have been anxious to teach Barry this game because we figured he would be good at it and he did not disappoint! By the end of the 2 hour game, he became quite good at it and he even beat Kimberly for 3rd place! Just as the game was winding down, Dan called us outside to admire his work. Wow! The boat is finished and ready to go. Hopefully the weather will hold up tomorrow so we can take it for a spin on the lake!
