July 8 MOOSE!!!!!!

You know how it goes; when you are looking really hard for something you can never find it. That's the way we were starting to feel about Barry seeing a moose up close. Well, we didn't have to look very hard. Barry was out in the living room this morning just before we all got up and we could hear him shout, "Moose! Moose!" By the time we got up the moose in the yard were gone but this afternoon Kami spotted them again so we grabbed the camera, ran outside and saw the same moose that are on the first blog picture on June 13! Note how much bigger the calves have gotten! They just meandered through the yard and we let Barry get as close as we would allow so he could get in the picture with them. He started to call them over and we're like, "No! Don't do that! We don't want you to get trampled!" But the moose sightings didn't stop there! On the way to the soccer game between Sterling & Soldotna, we saw a huge moose right by the Sterling Highway but we didn't get the camera out fast enough to take a picture. But now Barry can say he's been up close and personal with moose. Hooray!

Other happenings today: Dan & Barry spent several hours in Soldotna this morning taking Rascal to the vet, eating breakfast at a cool Alaskan restaurant called Sal's Klondike Diner and doing a bit of shopping at Walmart. When they got home they went back out to the wood shop to finish cleaning up so they can get started on some specail projects. On the way home from Kami's soccer game, we stopped at Fred Meyer for a few groceries. We are totally spoiled because Barry always grabs a cart before we can even think about it and he always pushes it around the store! When we got home from the game, Kami set a fancy table including nametags for all of us! Before the night was over, B did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen while Kami, Dan & Kimberly put up lots of blueberries to freeze that we found on a great sale and we all know what Suzanne was busy doing! So, all you people that pick them right from the bush, count your blessings! However, in late summer, you might find us at some "secret" locations around the peninsula picking some  wild Alaskan blueberries... mmmmm....delicious!
